"Thank you all so much. I have also noticed that the *obituary on the
bottom left (Antonio de Medeiros Pacheco-70 yrs. old) also died under the
same circumstances *and his record may be a little clearer but not so much
for me because I am still unfamiliar with those particular words. This is
very exciting. I love history. More now than when I was in school.

Thank you Luciana for the translation help and you Bill for the history
link.  I'm going to look over it carefully and include relevant excerpts.
This puts it all in a wonderful context.  I now wonder if Francisco was a
supporter of the current regime or if his death was collateral damage in
taking control of the island.
