Hello everyone. I was wondering how a child was given a Last name if their parents are unknown? I have finally found my gg grandfather and more digging resulted in his grand father having unknown parents. My gg grandfather was in ultimately given my ggg grandmothers maiden name.
Are there any orphanage records online? Would the birth/baptism records note such status? Your help is always appreciated.
