Laura,

This may be your ancestors:
the first record link is for emigration records from individuals from
Ribeira Grande. I found Jacintho Cabral married to Rosa de Melo...after you
click on the link, there will be an image to the right of the page. Click
on the image; Jacinto is Number 167(two pages)
http://mea.cm-ribeiragrande.pt/index.php?p=p&sp=req&nome=cabral&freguesia=todas&destino=todos&pesquisa=pesquisa&idreq=782

this second set of images is from the Azorean Archives(Centro de
Conhecimento dos Acores website). From what I've found, individuals for
the passport years 1875-1883 are indexed, or at least partially indexed. I
could be wrong. Contact them an ask if you want to know for sure.
Nonetheless, Jacinto Cabral his wife Rosa de Melo, and their children are
listed.
This is the link to Jacinto..he has several sons, so make sure to become
familiar with this website. It appears there are two different dates, one
for 02/14/1883, for the SS Abergeldie to Hawaii; and 04/27/1883. I checked
the Abergeldie passenger list, and they were not listed. But they're
listed on the SS Hankow, arriving in Hawaii on 07/07/1883. This explains
why there are two different passport entries for Jacinto and his family.

with this information, you can locate Jacinto's Ponta Delgada passport...

If this is your family, I think you're lucky because there's quite a bit
of information for them. Once the Hawaii Archives collections are back
online, you'll be able to find out more.
