 Hi,
I tried to pause my research on Antonio, but i'm really upset about this and
can't stop thinking about it.
The records of that period are ruined, so even if there was a note in the side
margin with the claim we'll never know.
Here's how he is mentioned in the records:

   - 05-10-1711 (his marriage): Antonio de Resendes

   - 19-08-1768: (his wife Maria's death record): Antonio de Resendes Loyra
   - 04-03-1769 (his death record): Antonio de Resendes Loura
natural da Parochial do Apostolo Sam Pedro
So, according to these notes:- Antonio only appears in the records using the
last name Loura in by his late life (+- 1768), - while at least on of his
children, José (i haven't found Maria's marriage record yet) was already using
the last name Loura at the time of his own wedding (1749)
I even considered that, since his death record reffers that he is natural de
São Pedro, maybe there was a document in the São Pedro books with someone
claiming to be his parents, but unfortunately only Santa Barbara has these type
of records in Santa Maria.
Every once in a while i wish i could solve this mistery...

I don’t know how they added the last name Loura, it could be that someone did
claim him after his birth, but that might have been noted on his birth record.
It could be to distinguish him from another Antonio Resendes in the same
village.  I do have the Loura line back to early 1500’s when they were known as
Lourenco.  The name Loura I have found in the mid 1500’s when a descendant
known as Protezilau Loura is found in Vila do Porto.  He has Inis DOB: 1589 and
Cosme found, but t also states he had many unknown children besides these two
that are listed.

Thanks Theresa! This Antonio is twisting my mind for weeks!Antonio Resendes on
his marriage record and on his son's baptism and marriage record. And Antonio
Resendes Loura/Loyra in his and his wife's death records. In his marriages it
states that he is "filho de pais nao sabidos" and baptized in the Matriz, and
in his death record says he is "natural de Sao
Pedro".http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1667-1697/SMA-VP-ASSUNCAO-B-1667-1697_item1/P121.html

I'm trying to link any piece i can find, to see if he really is a son of
unknown parents, or if he was left at the Roda and later recovered by his
parents, and how does the Loura fits in all this...Jesus, what a ride!

Hi Angela, I have him being born in Matrix Vila do Porto in 1694 #1052.  I
don’t see an age on his marriage, but he is found in Vila do Porto.

Thanks!
