You are welcome, Carmen. You are doing fine, just need to know some of the 'other' words!! It's easy to see unfamilier words and think that they are part of the name. You also have to get used to the Priests and their handwriting! Sometimes they write things all squished together and then other they drag them out like: ja de funto, sometimes it jade funto sometimes it's jadefunto! Once you become familier with your village Priest and the names in your village you will be okay! You really need to download the Genealogical Word List and also the Portuguese Paleography from the AzoresGenWeb site, if you haven't already. It really helps to check out the abbreviations and letter formations. The double "s" looks like ph, Nossa Senhora looks like Nopha Senhora. The "th" is very odd looking too. It took me a long time to figure out my greatgrandma's name as Theresa because the Th didn't look like Th!!
