You could leave from any port you wanted to, but most people left from the port closest to them. 1) Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel usually had Sao Miguel and Santa Maria people leaving. 2) Angra on Terceira usually had Terceira, Graciosa, and Sao Jorge people. 3) Horta on Faial usually had Faial, Flores and Corvo people.
