Thanks JR and Cheri. Now it obviously looks like Lobam even so heavily sneezed upon. Hindsight after someone reads it for you is wonderful. I think Cheri is right that I will have to find another record to get the name under the watermark, but both of JR's suggestions look possible. The name de Eiro I was able to get by looking around Graciosa records which I found several instances (sometimes spelled as "Deiro or d' Eiro). Is this name specificly associated with Graciosa? I am fairly new to Graciosa research where my wife's paternal line has taken me.
Another name I have seen a lot that I don't remember seeing on other islands I have researched is Picanço. I was already familiar with this name because it was my landlord's name when I rented a house on Terceira when I was stationed there in the '80s. My landlord's family had come to Terceira from Graciosa. Is this another name specific (or at least most commonly associated with) Graciosa?
