Repost for Tony, tony_amarant at hotmail.com

Hello Eliseu,

My great grandfather was Manoel Amaranté (mistakenly listed below as Manuel
Amarante) and he came from the town of Manadas, Sao Jorge so I'm very keen
to understand the source document of your post. I was aware he came out on
the "Water Lily" but haven't been able to find much more than that. What
else can you tell me about the expedition? Also I'm wondering whether your
location of " Fores Crick mines" should or could be Forest Creek Mine?
Forest Creek near Castlemaine, Victoria was a well known goldfields area
that was dotted with mines and small individual "claims" often referred as
"diggings". My g/grandfather obviously moved on from the "expedition" as I
have found records of him in other goldfield areas of Victoria eventually
settling down in place called Wattle Creek where he operated a quartz
crusher for a time before marrying and becoming a farmer. Hope to hear from
you. Regards, Tony.
