I am posting this on this thread because I think it is interesting to people with ancestors from Ribeira Quente, and hopefully to others. Antonio Linhares, a common name in ribeira Quente, was a 'violeiro.' That is a guitar maker. His line went to Furnas and then to Sao Pedro, Ponta Delgada. That is one of the most interesting jobs I have seen in the records; and it surprises me that someone could make a living making guitars on such a small island.
