Start with April 12, 1901 (he may have been a little sick and not released from the Ellis Island hospital until the 18th), then April 28th, 1900. See if one of those two turn him up.
Are you trying to find his freguesia? Did you check the Azorean Passaportes LEAVING the Azores?
