Kelley, That's not the birth certificate. It's a typed abstract with a translation. It did not come from Terceira, it came from the archives on Horta. If your relative walked into the archive on Terceira, someone contacted Horta for her and part of her fees paid for the translation.
You need to figure out if this is really your guy. I could find another Jose on Flores born pretty close to those dates. The Sonoma County book....when was it published and did your Jose provide the information? Or was it another family member telling about when Jose arrived in Sonoma? It makes a difference who is telling the story. Some of 23 and Me transfers. Depends on when she tested. Do you know? I can look up the information when I get home.
