Doreen, This is how I read it: Baptism: José on 1 July 1862 at São Roque dos Altares Date of birth: 3 June 1862 (or maybe 13 June; the line above interferes) Father: José Coelho Machado, laborer Mother: Isabel de Jesus, worker Both parents are naturals, were married in, and are parishioners of this parish and residents of Raminho Paternal grandparents: José Coelho Berbereia and Maria Isabel Maternal grandparents: Antonio Ferreira and Antonia Narcisa Godfather: Manuel Coelho Toledo, married, laborer Godmother: Felicia Rosa, single I’m not sure about residents of in the lugar of Raminho but that is how it looks to me. I know that Raminho is, at least now, its own parish and it, along with Altares are in concelho of Angra. The records in this book show Altares to be in the concelho of Vila da Praia da Vitoria.
