Aloha All,

You can upload more than one kit. I have myself and three others, you would
highlight the box that says someone else and they will ask for name, birth year
and if you have permission to do this for that party. You will end up getting
a different number assigned for each kit. I hope this helps to answer any
questions.

Marsha S,

Someone just asked me this same question about uploading more than one kit for
the same person. I don't know if it was to the list or to me personally.
Anyways, here's my answer:

<<I'm not sure [about uploading more than one kit for the same person]. You'd
have to contact them. https://www.myheritage.com/contact-myheritage

But why would you do that? Let's say I match you. So I log in and I see Your
DNA Kit 1, Your DNA Kit 2, and Your DNA Kit 3. From a match perspective, I want
to see different matches, not to the same one. I know Roberta Estes, who has
the DNA Explained blog has uploaded her DNA from the different companies to
different sites, as she's blogged about it. But she explains how many matches
she's getting out of this company vs. that company. Out of the 3, AncestryDNA,
23 and Me, and FTDNA, it will be FTDNA that has the most family markers/SNPs.
AncestryDNA and 23 and Me have replaced almost half their family markers with
health markers. So if you are fishing for cousins, including distant ones,
upload the FTDNA build 37 concatenated. You will get more distant matches. But
if you want to do it to see what happens, I guess your best bet would be to
contact My Heritage. I've just never understood why people upload multiple kits
;)

Good luck!

Hi,

I got the same/similar message at first re FTDNA (not sure which mistake);
tried again and it worked.

Is it possible to upload a 2nd test? Wondering if there would be different
results via the Ancestry test?

Rick; Since I got that message when I uploaded my sister’s raw data, do you
know if I can uploaded it again? Will a second upload over-ride the first? I’m
thinking you could be right and I may have clicked on the wrong download when I
did it the first time.

Thanks,

Sam, I just did mine this morning and had no problems. I first downloaded my
DNA from Family Tree DNA. You want to download Build 37 Autosomal. If you did
not use this one then that could be the problem. It is an easy mistake to make
because you can also download Build 36 which will not work.

Cheri; Thanks for this reminder. I had tried to do this twice now without
success. It just kept showing that it was uploading but; would never finish.
Thanks to you reminder, I tried again this morning with success. I’ve uploaded
all 3 of the kits I manage to My Heritage. Interestingly, there were no issues
with the two male kits but; when uploaded my sister’s kit I received a message
that said something like, we are unable to process this type of information at
this time. We will notify you when we are able to. (Something like that
anyway). Any ideas on that?

Thanks again,

Just a reminder...You only have a couple of days left before My Heritage starts
charging on Dec. 1st.

Original email below:

For those who have DNA tested, you will want to download your raw data from
whichever company and transfer it over to My Heritage DNA before December 1st.

Each testing company has developed different tools and has different population
samples. Transferring to MyHeritage DNA is currently free. Use of their tools
will be grandfathered in. Beginning December 1st, you will have to pay. No, I
don't know the amount.

Here is what Dick Eastman says about the transfer: https://goo.gl/F5VScW

Here is Roberta Estes' step-by-step guide to downloading and transferring:

https://goo.gl/9bYpyM

Roberta went to My Heritage's conference last week and spent a lot of time at
the DNA lectures. Roberta does have a scientific or technical background, so
she completely understands this stuff. She tries very hard to break the science
down for the us to understand in her blog, DNA-Explained.com. She wrote a long,
detailed article on how DNA matching is done at My Heritage. All companies have
their own similar processes. I encourage everyone to read the article and try
to follow along. You don't need to understand the gory details. The only
understanding is that there's a lot of science and stuff behind the scenes
going into these matches and it's not a perfect science. There's no way to
appreciate it until you read (or attend) lectures like this. So read her latest
blog with the understanding that you are following along and will only digest
small portions of it: https://goo.gl/uAnanQ
