Excuse my spelling errors in my previous post. I'm well acquainted with the island, so what I have been fearing, seems to be the case...that it is the whole conselho. I exaggerated a bit by saying half the Island but 1/3 is still no small area. Luckily I've been chipping away at it for a bit. I got him a DNA kit, results should be ready in a couple of weeks. I've gone through every parish and village but he can't recall. I'm hoping the DNA will help and I'll just keep plugging away at the records.
