Margarida Resendes and Félix de Resendes Carvalho are my 6X great
grandparents. They were married on May 15, 1731 in Santo Espirito, Santa
Maria (

According to this record:

The groom’s parents are Manuel de Sousa de Matos and Margarida de Resendes.
The bride’s parents are Matias de Fonte Chaves and Ana de Resendes.

As far as I can tell this is consistent with RR’s work (Cap.º 34.º §
Primeiro, N.º 7).

However I’m wondering if the priest reversed the names of the parents of
the bride and the groom.

Here is why this may be a possibility. On August 8th 1708 Manuel de Sousa
Matos and Margarida de Resends baptize a daughter with the name of Margrida
(

Is this "Margarida" Félix de Resendes Carvalho’s sister or wife?

With so many Margarida’s in the mix it’s a possibility. If so then RR’s
work is wrong. It’s also a possibility that Félix de Resendes Carvalho
married a woman with the same name as his sister. For now I’m going with
this. Some of you have attributed this baptismal record to the bride and
you may want to revisit this. If this is a confusing to you as it is to me
send me an email and I’ll give you what I got.

If you want more continue reading…

On June 19, 1766 Margarida de Resendes (widow of Félix de Resendes) dies at
the age of “setenta… or at least that’s my read). See

If so, Margarida (the bride), would have been born around 1696 (not August
8, 1708). If so then my speculation that the priest reversed the names in
the marriage record is probably wrong.

I’m posting in part because some of you have this couple in your MyHeritage
database and some have recorded August 8, 1708 as the birth date of
Margarida the bride. This may be right but it may the birthdate of the
bride’s sister-in-law (also Margarida).
