Hi Leonor,

I did a lot of inventory work last summer there.

As Philippe said, it's an inventory of their stuff. They do list children,
grands, greats. And it was kind of interesting to see what they had for
time period too.

Every time I requested an inventory, they told me that they are private and
not to be posted on the Internet (they saw me taking pictures with my cell
phone). I said OK. I understand that some of the inventories (say the one
from 1920s) could name a kid who is alive today (they'd be pushing 100),
but the ones from the 1800s would not have anyone alive. So all I could do
is honor their request because I want continued access to that record set
and so do many genealogists.

Portugal is part of the European Union and they have the newer General Data
Privacy Regulation (GDPR). Many countries are becoming concerned about the
privacy of their citizens so they are creating rules and regulations for
privacy. It's probably why they asked me not to post anything on the
Internet. The GDPR is just a little over a year old, so I'm hoping as time
goes on, they will adjust for things like older historical records, where
no one alive today is mentioned in them. Cheri
