Any ideas on what this means? I suspect a copyist error here, that לעות should be לענת ( L(WT should be L(NT ). If that were so, it would have been before the writing of the Great Isaiah Scroll, it has the same as the MT consonantal text. The LXX seems to indicate a different reading (or did they not understand it as well, and so faked it?) Or is it possible that we misunderstand the verb עות (WT ? It’s been a few slow days, so maybe a good time to start a discussion. Karl W.
