I recall also the variant גפר GPR, the root of the combustible,  
flowing GAPRIYT, (now: GAPRUR, 'match'), of Is. 30:33.

I think that the similar זפת ZEPET of Is. 34:9 is a variant of  
ZEBET, from ZUB, 'flow, trickle, flux', as in Lev. 15:25.
