1. I was under the impression that the PAAM of Is. 41:7 is a maul or somesuch heavy hammer with which one is הולם HOLEM a big whack, but anvil is also possible.

2. I think that פעה PAAH (Is. 42:14) is a variant of בעה BAAH, 'emit', as in Is. 64:1(2). From this we have the present בעיה BAYAH, 'quandary, problem, question', which is, methinks,
but a פעיה PAYAH of an inquiring mouth.
