Is a variant of BDL, BTL, BCL, B$L, BTL

בדל, בטל, בצל, בשל, בתל
and also *PZL, PSL, PCL, *P$L, PTL
פזל*, פסל, פצל, פשל*, פתל

This understanding leads us to identify the vegetable בצל BACAL of Nu. 11:5 with the multilayered onion. From the extrabiblical PZL, we have פזילה PZIYLAH, 'squinting', while from the extrabiblical P$L we have HI-P$IYL, 'rolled-up', both clearly related to the PICEL, 'peeled', (related to pill and pilled?) of Gen. 30:38.

Could the Hiph'il participle "badal" be translated "separate from," or "divide from"?

(In other words, is the preposition "from" implied in the word?)
