I'm coming at this from someone who introduces non-linguistic students to the 
study of Hebrew as absolute beginners, and likely will not go on to linguistic 
research, but rather use their language skills in a ministry context. 
Pedagogically, then, the terminology has to be toned down and illustrated for 
them.
