My attention was called today to the fact that the Luther Bible of 1545 translates Psalm 24:7

שְׂאוּ שְׁעָרִים רָאשֵׁיכֶם וְהִנָּשְׂאוּ פִּתְחֵי עוֹלָם וְיָבוֹא מֶלֶךְ הַכָּבוֹד

as: "Machet die Tore weit und die Türen in der Welt hoch, daß der König der Ehren einziehe!" with OLAM rendered as Welt, 'world', apparently in the sense of space.

KJV translates this verse as: "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in", with OLAM rendered as 'everlasting' in the sense of time.

On the other hand, the Luther Bible translates
אֵל עוֹלָם
of Gen. 21:33 as: "des ewigen Gottes", the eternal God.
