Ben,
you maybe 'missing' the issue raised:
your example:
http://feeds.bbc.co.uk/weather/feeds/rss/obs/world/4206.xml
links to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?world=4206
but that is immediately redirected to:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2199
which does indeed have a 4 plus one 24 hour forecast.
My point was that the feed which gives a 3 day forecast sits at a URL
containing the expression 5 day.
But I suppose it is a moot point, since both the observations and
forecast feeds link back to the 'main' weather page,
which, as you say, does give a full 5 day forecast. And it's interesting
that the 'code' number for the area differs between the feeds and the
main page.
I assume this is probably a hangover from the implementation of the
new-look weather site - they recoded every location, but have to keep
the feed XMLs at the original URL to avoid peeving everyone using the feeds.
Anyway, if anyone other than us two is reading this (I have to wonder
since the list has been pretty silent for the past few days until you
piped up a few hours ago!), feel free to have a poke around my code,
contribut your opinions to this thread etc. etc.
(Aside: do you think backstage staff know the post action on their
website forms is kaput or should I drop them an email in case? And why
are the forms sitting in the 2005 archive?)
