James,

We're going to do this once we launch.  I don't want to give to much
away (oh, the suspense -- huzza!) but I guess I can elaborate a little:

backstage.bbc.co.uk will always be pleased to receive your
"unsolicited"/off the cuff projects that you want to build off your own
back.  However, we will also try to run structured competitions in which
we might ask you to innovate around a given theme or provide a solution
to a real-world problem - maybe by releasing a special feed or API at
the same time.

We'll then judge the entries received and offer a cool prize(s) to the
winner, plus the opportunity to come to the BBC and meet+greet the peeps
here.


We're not exactly sure how this is all going to work ourselves yet, but
we've already got some cool ideas for competitions.  Watch this space...
