Something which might be interesting would be to use the live UK viewing figure feeds on mighTyV . This would be of tremendous use if coupled with the programme-type/genre/geography functions (which the backstage list seems very adept with!) If I had any programming knowledge I would be making something for media buyers along these lines... anyone got any interest in following this up? I'm thinking of a web tool which spots bargain ad slots for a content specific audience.
Or, since this is the BBC's baby, perhaps something which links up both those streams of viewers and content, mixes in TV license holder geographic data and works out which postcodes they need to send the detector van round to when there's a wildlife show on.

Hi All,

First off - it's been really interesting seeing everyone's entries!

Taking something further:

Part of the reason we created RSS/iCal and JSON access to various
result pages for www.mighTyV.com was so that people could use them
to the put their own front ends on them, so for example I created a
script
to 'speak' what's on now (linked from the about page).

These feeds could easily used in a web widget, or pulled into an
applications, or
redesigned for mobile/SMS/PSP/SMS etc

I know several people already use the RSS with www.bloglines.com,
a few have what they are scheduled to record linked in on their
home pages.. so this is already starting to happen.

There would need  to be some work on re-factoring the API a little
and there are quite a few other ideas we have.

After having worked every evening and weekend on MighTyV
for a month (we didn't start until the extension was announced)
I'm taking a break for a couple of weeks. Then Leon and I can
have a chat about how we take it further.

Things I'm specifically interested in:
- Friends - what are friends watching etc
- Finding an image source for programs
- More PVR scripts (Leon and I have EyeTV's so not sure what else is
out there, but
if they have an API this should be easy to do.
- More testing, I'm sure there's the odd little bug in the code

But, as I say, I need a break for a bit before looking at it all again
and working out what we want to do.

Cheers

Leo
