I'd be incredibly warey of trusting a one-stop shop for tidal data, since
depending on your location (not in relation to the moon but as in geography of
your area), it can get highly messed up. Theres one used on the RYA
yachtmaster
course thats a sort of "look how crazy this graph is" example, I forget
exactly
where, its either Norfolk Broads or could well be the Isle of Wight (somewhere
a bit weird to begin with like :P). It has multiple highs and lows per
day with
no perceivable pattern day-to-day (its actually at the confluence of several
tidal streams, so what you see is them working against each other). But yeah,
algorithmic will give you a highly naive answer based i would imagine
on normal
distribution / rule of twelths and all that, whereas true tidal times
and flows
vary amazingly from place to place (even local places). Proper predictions for
"major" ports and curious zones as usually published is the best way forward
for making it truly usable.
