I saw a YouTube video where a guy shows how to tune into one (using a Sony radio which allowed you to tune to non-standard sidebands to pick the stations up), and it had some audio... I did a lot of reading about the Russian Woodpecker and Numbers Stations last year after one of my uni lecturers said he was working on an MoD site in the part of the UK which the Woodpecker was aimed it (somewhere in Anglia I think it was), and it caused seizures in a small percentage of the local population! That's a bit worrying... ... Though different sources say the Woodpecker was for different things - over the horizon radar, signal jamming, or other nefarious electronic warfare. I did find it funny that the Russians shut down their system just after the Americans set up their own one to retaliate after being bombarded with Russian signals for years :D Feel even sorrier for the Russians living in the locality of the transmitters whose reception of nearly everything was regularly disrupted!

I ran across them late at night as a kid and was scared witless!
