It's even sillier when you get paid over a grand a day to know about these
things!

And of course there are places (such as libraries and schools) that actually
have the right to retain copies as long as they want, and the BBC is,
perhaps illegally, preventing this!

There is a great tension here between the BBC News "the truth even if it
unpleasant" part of the corporation and the BBC Worldwide "exploit the
public" attitude.  I'm imagining it here like a game of "It's a Knockout", I
can hear Stuart Hall and Eddie Waring laughing extensively at the unedifying
spectacle.
