I thought that OpenSolaris was using Gnome - which is a Linux DE.
Certainly that is what the OpenSolaris web pages say.

I would also have no problem sitting someone down with KDE 4.3
(configured to be most like Windows).  From my experience end-user
take-up has been far less about the DE than the applications and
continues to be so.
