I'm a bit concerned that they've taken what is basically general purpose computer and said "you can only do what we allow you to do".

If this was a Mac Tablet, I'm not sure I'd have an issue.

On your Mac you can run pretty much anything you want on it; if you build a neat program that lets you do something Apple hadn't intended it be used for, then you are free to do so.

It seems such a step backwards that the first device which will make a real impact on the tablet form factor is going to stifle developers open innovation and prevent consumers from getting the most out of their device.

Now *that* is an interesting question.

Probably very little - it's just a continuation of the iphone situation - limited Browser string.
