The internet doesn't make anything different. Not anymore. It is exactly the same as the physical world.... but bigger and more connected. The publishers should be educated at the same time as they would benefit from being open and educating their customers. Surely the apparent subterfuge goes to show that they are running around like headless chickens in fear of something which the music industry has already had to become satisfied with?
I don't think that individual communication is something that the BBC is very good at. If they were then "we", the public, would not find ourselves in these situations. As David says, the BBC are looking in the wrong direction if they want to fear the dark.
