I think it is a little confusing too, and assume that the idea of
calling it an archive host is to permit the config file that controls
it to fit into the same scheme used for target hosts that need
individual configs, and to use the same the way you select hosts
for an action to pick it.
The archive hosts are used to pick a method of archiving the last
backup of any of the non-archive targets. How that is done and
where it is stored is up to the settings in the config file
for that archive host. You might have one that writes directly
to tape, one that slices to CD size, and one that slices to DVD
size (etc.).
Note that you can do the same stuff with more options by rolling
your own command line around BackPC_tarCreate with ssh to
run it from elsewhere or to put the output where you want it.
