No error or similar in the BachupPC-Logfile or in syslog/messages on the
P-PC? If "it" thinks that the restore is running, where does goes the
restored data?

Maybe you're not such a newbee, but...  
a) Sure you haven't on the failed server a dynamic ip from dhcp (from
knoppix)? Is the nic set to your old (static ?) ip address?

b) Works the normal (keyed) ssh connection from B-PC to your crashed
(knoppix) server?

c) Have you mounted the suse-ext3 partition with read-write? Knoppix
normally mounts only ro.

As another option you can restore first in an tar archive, put this over
lan or cd/dvd to your Server and extract it locally.
