I make sure I turn off tail packing (mount option 'notail') with reiserfs
and backuppc, because it slows disk operations down somewhat. I don't know
exactly how much; but it is nontrivial. Disk is cheap, and backuppc is
usually disk-I/O bound. Spend the disk to get better performance.
