To not answer your question; why don't you just let the new machine use the existing configs, assuming you keep a few fulls you'll still have access to the old files just the same. You could also archive it if you really wanted to preserve it as-is. Basically, what I'm saying is OS changes shouldn't really affect your backup scheme if you keep plenty of fulls/revisions...
