Well, I think it was using /var/BackupPC/cpool and /home/BackupPC/pc
-- despite my telling it to use /home/BackupPC as the TopDir. This is
a pretty bad gotcha, as the config setup seems to imply that you can
change TopDir post installation. 

I've made /var/BackupPC be a link to /home/BackupPC, and now it seems
to be working fine.
