Static IP addresses that are on the same local broadcast domain as the 
BacukpPC server?  And that will allow the client to use the same IP 
address both when the client is behind the VPN *and* when the client is 
*not* behind the VPN but connected directly to the office?

Also, VPN bridging (which is what this technique requires) comes with its 
own set of difficulties, all so you can avoid making name resolution work 
over the VPN...

I'd rather fix the actual problem (name resolution) instead mangling my 
VPN and ending up with two problems!  :)
