is there any way to change that. i would like the option to be able to manually copy files.

Not the way you think. You can use BackupPC_restore or BackupPC_tarCreate to do that.

also if i check the folder size it like 100k. if i take that drive to another machine will i be able to access the files?

Yes, as long as you have a working installation of BackupPC on the destination. Keep in mind, exactly like BPC3, all the data is in the (c)pool directories, the pc directory just contains "pointers" to the pool. In BPC4 this is extended, there is no longer a hardlink, so you need to look at the attrib files to find the correct pool file. BPC has all the tools and utilities to do this for you.

Perhaps someone will update the fuse plugin to work with BPC4, which could make this a lot easier.

Adam

ah is in version 3.2 i could just goto the folder and type ls and all the file were viewable. your saying that has been changed and you can only view the file through the web interface or using this backuppc_ls tool. is that correct?

Yes.
