Samba wiki says they added support for SMB3 with version 4.0.0. I don't have any CentOS boxes, but it looks like CentOS 7 has Samba 4.8.3 The notes I made back when I updated our BackupPC servers to support Windows 10 tell me that I had trouble with Samba 4.8.0+, so I'm using Samba 4.6.16.
