It has been upgraded from v3 to v4. I installed it initially long time ago on Fedora 20 or 21 and I kept upgrading it since then. It is only a home network, and additionally Backuppc is virtualized @Proxmox (pool on separate mirrored drives with HBA passed-through), so I can easily play with that setup. I just need to find time for that:) I'll try to follow your recommendation and I will migrate it to a fresh install.
