still wants to build version 0.59.
I will try to update tonight and report back.

Update: I reviewed my repository,
updated to the latest Debian upstream from
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/libbackuppc-xs-perl
and reduced debhelper-compat to allow a "backport" build.
(Perhaps not in the best way, but it should work)
