Don't get discouraged. Apply Hanlon's Razor. Don't be put off by a terse or impatient reply. Remember that a lot of mailing list members are sysadmins who support a LOT of software and are subscribed to a LOT of lists. So the person asking a question should be doing some leg work before posting a question if one expects a useful response.
