Thanks for your reply, Les!

Running a second BackupPC server is an interesting approach, but won't work in this case. The storage I have is dumb, i.e. I can use `sftp`, `rsync` & `rclone` and `borg` and a few others, but I cannot run other processes there.

`rclone crypt` doesn't seem to work. It seems to me that this mode is unable to just pick up new and deleted files and transfer them, it just runs for days on end.

I tried `rsync` off a local `gocryptfs` mount, and while promising, it made me realise that `cpool` should not be a problem to sync, but every backup creates a massive hierarchy under `pc/*/xxxx/f%2f/` anew. I have not tried `--fuzzy` to help with the fact that most of the files thereunder are already present on the remote.

I am currently giving `borgbackup` a shot, as it seems to be able to deduplicate locally and talk to the remote server to figure out what actually needs to be transferred.

I'll keep y'all posted.
