Hello,
I don't quite understand this. Perhaps you don't realize that the next
statement after setting your variables is to source mtx-changer.conf, which
is supposed to set all those variables appropriately.
I suspect that you either do not have an mtx-changer.conf file or that it has
improper permissions or something.
