I am not convinced it would be worth writing the code to give the status for 
only one device.  In any case, I probably wouldn't refuse a patch, but it is 
unlikely to be me that writes the code (other higher priorities).

Yes, it isn't very logical. This bothers me a bit.  However, what bothers me 
even more is if you just say "status storage" you will get a list of all the 
devices in the SD -- that's when the inconsistency becomes the most flagrant, 
to me at least.

Unfortunately , the Director has no concept of what spanky-sd is.

Yes, a lot better, but the "inconsistencies" you mention above are not *yet* 
resolved ...
