This is definitely a 'want to have' feature for me, until now I assumed it were possible and I just don't know yet to properly configure it. In NetWorker (eval *g*) at home I used a staging setup which quite achieved it, at work we use a large virtual tape library for it. The staging solution is bad, because there's only a single instance of the backup possible (so, it won't be on tape as long as it's on disk and vice versa, forcing You to chose between safety and performance) and the VLT is also bad in my opinion as it adds another level of administration and yet another database[tm]. So if anyone can help implementing this, I'd consider it the most interesting/important feature I can think of.
