This is an interesting subject because Bacula treats disk volumes as closely 
as possible to tape volumes.  That is it never truncates a disk volume unless 
it would do the same to a tape, which means the only time is as you 
suggested, Arno, during a relabel.

Somehow, though this is what I consider the proper behavior to maintain the 
data the longest possible, it seems that users like to name their volumes 
with dates and such rather than simply numbering them and letting Bacula 
cycle through a fixed (or limited) set of volumes.  Human nature I guess.

I suppose that someday, I will need to add "Delete Purged Volumes" to the ever 
growing list of directives ... :-)
