Hi!

I am having trouble restoring files from a Windows 2003 server with
winbacula-1.37.38 client.
We have the same Bacula version on our server but unfortunately it was
quite a while since I was trying to restore anything :(

My Bacula setup is used only for a backup-to-disk scenario and I am
using multiple storage devices, schedules and clients but only one job
and one fileset for each client...

The error messages looks like this when trying to restore from a
incremental backup:

14-Sep 15:28 nitrogen-dir: Start Restore Job RestoreFiles.2005-09-14_15.28.41
14-Sep 15:28 nitrogen-sd: RestoreFiles.2005-09-14_15.28.41 Fatal

open: /vol/inc/radium-inc/Full-radium-job-200593-22:30, ERR=No such
file or directory

14-Sep 15:27 RADIUM-FD: RestoreFiles.2005-09-14_15.28.41 Fatal error:
c:\cygwin\home\kern\bacula\k\src\win32\filed\../../filed/job.c:1597

, got 3000 error

I get used to that sort of message from bacula recently :-(

Well, two things to consider and a workaround:
First, baculas handling of restors from different storage devices or media types is... erm, well, it can be improved :-) Then, currently there seem to be some problems with volume reservation. I saw several error messages similar to what you got when I had jobs trying to use the same device with volumes from different pools. I couldn't isolate the error yet, though, and I don't think that will be easy. We'll have to wait for Kern or anybody else who really understands the source code, I guess.

Now, one possible workaround: You could create symlinks from the files in one storage directory to the other, so that the SD can find the volumes it wants. I hope this would solve your current restore problem.

Arno

And here are the error message when trying to restore from a full backup:

RADIUM-FD: drwxrwxrwx 1 0 0 0 2005-04-27 19:09:13 c:/

To me it looks like Bacula is trying to get the volumes from the wrong
storage devices, inc-volume from full storage and full-volume from inc
storage?? Do not understand why though...

Also I can not get the restore mode in wx-console to work. The date
field is empty and when I try to do a restore without any date it just
fails :(

I would really appreciate any help I can get :)

Best regards,

Jonte Norman
