My DLT tape drive has been going along nicely for almost a year.
Tonight, the day before I head away for a trip, it starts giving
errors.

Last night I did some restores, and left the tape in the drive.
Overnight, the regular jobs started and asked for the other tape.
Here is what happened:

10-Jan 15:57 polo-sd: Please mount Volume "DLT7000-JYN228" on Storage
Device "DLT" for Job undef.2006-01-10_00.55.00
*mount storage=DLT
Using default Catalog name=MyCatalog DB=bacula
3001 OK mount. Device=/dev/nsa0

moving to end of data.

10-Jan 17:26 polo-sd: Please mount Volume "DLT7000-004" on Storage
Device "DLT" for Job undef.2006-01-10_00.55.00

I tried that tape again, after updating the Volume status:

*mes
10-Jan 17:28 polo-sd: undef.2006-01-10_00.55.00 Warning: Requested
Volume "DLT7000-004" on /dev/nsa0 is not a Bacula labeled Volume,
because: ERR=block.c:793 Read zero bytes at 0:0 on device /dev/nsa0.
10-Jan 17:28 polo-sd: Please mount Volume "DLT7000-JYN228" on Storage
Device "DLT" for Job undef.2006-01-10_00.55.00

Coincidentally, one of the two fans I use to cool the underside of
this internally mounted DLT drive was making noise. The drive base
was not warm to the noise. I don't think overheating was an issue.

Any ideas?

In the meantime, I'll creating a few FILE volumes.
