I can confirm that Bacula itself handles umlauts correctly (probably utf 
and windows charsets in general).

I used verified this after a normal test restore of my windows laptop 
where the file Büro.ovpn was restored with the correct name.

During job setup in wx-console, the 'ü' was misprinted as two strange 
characters, though.

I never really understood the character coding Bacula does or does not; 
I simply assume it handles it transparently, and I think the windows FD 
does some translation.

As long as your catalog database handles strings or blobs either 
transparently, or according to Baculas character coding, things should work.

Displaying in wx-console seems a minor problem.
